Entering Macau

All visitors must hold a passport or a valid travel document. Please note that the validity of these documents must not be less than 30 days since the day you enter Macau.

A. Visas are required by all visitors except:

  1. Residents of Macau;
  2. Nationals of Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cape Verde, Croatia, Czech, Cyprus, Denmark, Dominica, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mali, Malta, Mongolia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Tanzania and the United Kingdom (6 months) for a stay up to 90 days;
  3. Nationals of Australia, Canada, Chile, India, Indonesia, Kiribati, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Namibia, New Zealand, Philippines, Samoa, Seychelles, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, the United States of America and Uruguay for a stay up to 30 days;
  4. Nationals of China with valid Macau entry/depart documents, including residents of China Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan and overseas Chinese for a stay of up to 30 days;
  5. The "Hong Kong Identity Card" (with symbol “*”, “***” or “R”), "Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card" or "Hong Kong Reentry Permit" holders may stay in Macau for a maximum period of one year.
  6. Holders of Diplomatic Passport or "Laissez Passer" issued by the United Nations.
  7. Holders of Consulate/Diplomatic documents issued by the Macau SAR or Hong Kong SAR.

B. Visas can be obtained from the Immigration Services through Embassies or Consulates of the PRC and should be used within the validity; the visa is expired after the valid date.

C. Visas are also available on arrival in Macau at the Immigration Services for a period of 30 days. There are three types of Visas:

  • Individual - MOP$100, for individual traveler for a single stay of up to 30 days in Macau, children under 12 years of age pay MOP$50.
  • Family - MOP$200 for couples, husband travelling with wife and or children (under 12 years of age) of same surname or on proof of their relationship.
  • Group - MOP$50 per person for bonafide groups of 10 or more and children aged 12 or under.

Travel Tips!
You can take a direct ferry (TurboJET) from the HK International Airport (HKIA) to Macau. The earliest ferry departs at 10:50; the alternative departure time of ferries is at 12:45, 14:00, 15:30, 17:25 and 19:00 respectively. The last ferry departs at 22:00. No reservation is needed, just proceed as follows:

Arrive at Hong Kong International Airport and follow the signs to Air/Sea Transfer Desk (exemption from immigration procedure)
→ Purchase ticket (HKD215, USD26) / pre check-in/ produce baggage identification tag for baggage reclaim at Air/Sea Transfer Desk (on the left side before immigration)
→ Approach designated Transit Hall for bonded shuttle bus ride (gate 10) to SkyPier (approx. 7 minutes)
→ Board TurboJET vessel to Macau (approx. 45 minutes)
→ Go through immigration / custom formalities at Macau Ferry Terminal and pick up your baggage

Entering China

For delegates who plan to join the Technical Visits in China Mainland, a Chinese visa must be obtained beforehand.

For delegates who plan to also join the Pre and/or Post Conference tours in Mainland China, a Chinese multiple-entry visa with will be required.

Chinese visa is a permit issued by the Chinese visa authorities to those foreigners who want to enter into, exit from or transit through the Chinese territory. The Chinese visa authorities overseas include Chinese embassies, consulates, visa offices, and the consular department of the office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. If a foreigner intends to enter into, exit from or transit through the Chinese territory, he shall apply to the above-mentioned Chinese visa authorities for a Chinese visa.

China PRC VISAS are required by all except the following:

  1. Visa-free entry for visitors: No visa is required for ordinary passport holders from Singapore, Brunei and Japan to visit China for up to 15 days for business, sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends or transit. 
  2. Visa-free transit
    • Visas are not required of aliens who hold air tickets to the final destination and have booked seats on international airliners flying directly through China, and will stay in a transit city for less than 24 hours without leaving the airport.
    • Visas are not required of passport holders of the following countries, who transit through Pudong Airport or Hongqiao Airport of Shanghai, provided they hold valid passports, visas for the onward countries, final destination tickets and have booked seats, and stay in Shanghai for less than 48 hours : Republic of Korea, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Austria, Greece, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland.

Entering Hong Kong

For delegates who travel via Hong Kong to Macau, the appropriate visa or entry permit should be obtained beforehand.

For delegates who also plan to join the Technical Visits in Hong Kong, a multiple- entry visa will be required.

Hong Kong SAR VISAS are required by all except the following:

  1. Nationals Algeria , Angola Diplomatic/Official Passport, Bangladesh Diplomatic/Official Passport, Benin, Bhutan, Bosnia And Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Burundi Diplomatic/Official Passport, Cameroon Diplomatic/Official Passport, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo (Republic Of) Diplomatic/Official Passport, Croatia, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia Diplomatic/Offical Passport, Gabon, Ghana Diplomatic/Official Passport, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, India, Lesotho, Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Marshall Islands (Republic Of), Mauritania, Micronesia (Federated States Of), Mongolia, Mozambique, Niger, Pakistan Diplomatic/Official Passport, Palau, Philippines, Rwanda, Sao Tome And Principe, Suriname, Togo Diplomatic/Official Passport, US Trust Territory Of Pacific Islands (Holders Of Us Trust Territory Passports Only), Vatican City, and Sri Lanka Diplomatic/Official Passport for up to 14 days.
